Like Father Like Son Part 2

18 Jun

Last Father’s Day I re-created a toy truck my Dad made for me out of wood on my Makerbot. This year I decided I should make this into a tradition and took another wooden toy (this time an airplane that he cut, drilled, and glued) and modeled it in Google Sketchup.

The scale is slightly smaller than the last wooden toy model (due to the wingspan of the model and my print bed). That being said, on the right sized printer (RepRap or Replicator to name a couple) this could be printed full size. Like just about all of my designs I’ve made this available on Thingiverse. Now kids (just like last year) all over the world have a chance to play with the toy plane I had when I was a kid, full size toys for kids, printed for a dollar or two, isn’t the Internet awesome?

So thanks for making the toys in the first place Dad! I hope you enjoy your slowly growing collection of tiny replicas of your creations. I hope some other kids get the chance to play with this (scaled or full size!) too!
